Tripod vase in translucent amethyst pink blown glass, with metallic reflections. The shape is characterized by significant hot-working of the material: the neck, stretched with pincers, extends into long "tears" of glass that flow down the body, while the three undulating "ribs" that structure it extend to the base. The relief and irregularities of these elements accentuate the organic and sculptural character of the work.
The body is adorned with a polychrome and gilded enameled decoration of Japonist inspiration composed of leafy and flowering branches, as well as ribbons supporting geometric and floral motifs reminiscent of traditional Japanese textiles.
Several vases of comparable form are known today, testifying to Auguste Jean's variation of the same model in different colors, decorations, and material treatments.
Condition: Good condition
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the piece: in red enamel "A. Jean" and by a hot-applied glass cabochon.
