Quadrangular, flat-sided vase with four feet, in green smoked blown glass. Its geometric silhouette is enlivened by worked and hot-applied elements: the base and small "tears" of glass forming, at the four corners, a kind of vertical drop that highlights the edges of the belly.
The vase features rich polychrome enamel decoration of Far Eastern inspiration, composed of cherry blossoms, ribbons, and cartouches containing geometric and floral motifs reminiscent of traditional Japanese textiles. Views of traditional Japanese dwellings also enrich the composition, coupled with numerous gilded highlights.
This work is particularly distinguished by its angular shape, which contrasts with the generally more rounded and organic silhouettes favored by Auguste Jean.
Condition: Good condition.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base, in red enamel: "A. Jean".
