Tripod globular vase in translucent ruby red blown glass, with metallic reflections and enhanced with gilded accents. The shape is particularly animated by extensive hot glass work: the neck is stretched with tongs, while each of the three feet extends into a thin undulating "rib" that rises to the neck. The body is also punctuated by several irregularly shaped glass protuberances, which rhythm its surface and give it an organic and almost sculptural appearance.

The vase features a rich polychrome enameled decoration with Japonist inspiration, composed of vegetal and floral motifs interspersed with ribbons and cartouches containing geometric ornaments evoking the decorations of traditional Japanese textiles.

Several vases of comparable shape are known today, testifying to Auguste Jean's adaptation of the same model into variations of colors, decorations, and material treatments.

Condition: Good condition.

Signature: Signed under the base "AJean". There is a hot-applied "AJean" pellet.
