Tubular vase , slightly tilted, in translucent pink blown glass. Its tripod base has disappeared, amputated at an undetermined date, probably following damage. The body of the vase is animated by hot-applied glass "tears" that seem to flow from the lips to the base, as well as floral cabochons also hot-applied. In addition to this material work, which gives the piece a resolutely organic character, there is a rich polychrome enameled decoration of Japanese inspiration, composed of cherry blossoms, ribbons and cartouches adorned with geometric patterns evoking traditional Japanese textiles. Gilded highlights and metallic effects complete this ornamentation.
Several vases of comparable shape are known today, with or without their base. However, they systematically differ in the color of the glass and the composition of their enameled decoration, making each example a unique work.
Condition: Good condition for the enameled decoration, but the three feet have been cut.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the red-orange ochre base: "AJean".
