Shortly before or in the year 1881, acquired by the Musée des Arts et Métiers for 6 francs from Charles Roethlisberger, associate of Auguste Jean.

_

Soliflore vase or bottle vase with a very narrow tall neck, in multi-layered translucent violet-mauve glass, resting on a circular base. Lacking any enamel decoration or hot-glass work, both characteristic of Auguste Jean's production, its only ornamentation is a high density of metallic inclusions, a type of silver foil, inserted between the two layers of glass.

No other vase of this shape or using this technique is currently known in Auguste Jean’s production. Similarly, the silver foil decoration has, to date, no other equivalent among his identified creations. The uniqueness of this piece, reinforced by its rare violet-mauve tone, makes it a remarkable testament to the research conducted by the artist into the decorative possibilities of glass.

Acquired in 1881, during Auguste Jean's lifetime, directly from his associate for the collections of the Musée des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), this vase attests to the interest shown in this creation from the time of its completion.
