Small globular vase in enamelled earthenware with a deep blue glaze, fitted with two small handles and a slightly flared neck with a yellow rim. The main face is adorned with a circular medallion featuring the profile of a woman dressed in Renaissance fashion, standing out against a yellow background punctuated with small geometric and floral motifs. The medallion is framed by leafy scrolls and flanked by two winged or chimerical female figures, rendered in a rich polychrome decoration.
With its deep blue glaze, the richness of its polychrome decoration, and its ornamental vocabulary inspired by the Renaissance, this vase is a particularly representative testimony to the production that contributed to Auguste Jean's renown.
Condition: Very good state of preservation.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base, in blue enamel: “AJ Jean”.
