Flattened vase in glazed earthenware with a deep blue glaze. The painted decoration, Neo-Renaissance in inspiration, combines putti clinging to grapevines with rich leafy scrollwork that unfolds across the entire body. The interior, coated in a white glaze delicately speckled with pink, offers a subtle contrast to the depth of the exterior glaze.
This vase is a particularly representative example of the work that contributed to Auguste Jean's reputation.
Condition: Good state of conservation despite a missing piece.
Signature: Signed under the piece, in blue enamel: "Jean AJ".
