Circular dish with raised edges, in enameled earthenware, resting on four small spherical feet. It is decorated with a polychrome painted decoration representing a lacustrine landscape with a bucolic character. On the water's edge stand a house and its outbuilding, from whose chimney a thin wisp of smoke escapes, while a sailboat moves on the lake. The whole forms a peaceful and picturesque scene.

The palette, dominated by soft tones of blue and green, reinforces the serene atmosphere of the composition and evokes the taste, very widespread in the 19th century, for rural and lacustrine landscapes in decorative ceramics. Both by its subject and by its pictorial treatment, this piece falls within the tradition of ornamental plates and dishes then appreciated for their representations of idealized landscapes.

Condition: Good state of preservation.

Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base, in blue enamel: "Jean AJ".
