Circular dish with raised edges, in enamelled earthenware, resting on four small spherical feet. It is adorned with a polychrome painted decoration representing a bucolic forest landscape. In the foreground, several trees stand amidst dense vegetation, while one of them lies on the ground. In the background, a mountain range is visible. In the sky, a flock of birds flies away towards the horizon.
The palette, dominated by soft blue and green tones, reinforces the serene atmosphere of the composition and evokes the widespread 19th-century taste for rural and lakeside landscapes in decorative ceramics. Through its subject and pictorial treatment, this piece falls within the tradition of ornamental plates and dishes, then appreciated for their representations of idealized landscapes.
Condition: Good state of preservation.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base, in blue enamel: “Jean AJ”.
