Small tripod basket, in amethyst pink translucent blown glass with metallic reflections, enriched with gilded highlights. The piece shows significant hot-working, particularly visible in the base, the "tears" flowing from the neck onto the body, and the undulating neck modeled with pliers. A tubular handle, also hot-applied, forms an elegant arched handle.
The body is adorned with a polychrome and gilded enameled decoration of Japoniste inspiration, composed of flowering branches, flowers, and small vegetal motifs. A gilded rectangular cartouche hosts the delicate representation of a bird in flight, directly evoking the aesthetic of Japanese prints. The richness of the decoration, the gold highlights, and the metallic effects of the glass give the whole a particularly precious and refined character.
Several baskets of comparable shape are known today, of varying sizes. However, they consistently differ in the color of the glass and the composition of their enameled decoration, making each example a unique work.
