Pair of circular enameled earthenware plates with a deep blue glaze, adorned with rich polychrome painted decoration inspired by the Neo-Renaissance. In the center, two three-quarter female busts are inscribed in cartouches with cut-out outlines and stand out against a yellow background punctuated with small crosses. The rim is decorated with leafy scrolls and polychrome floral motifs, whose blue, green, and yellow tones stand out vividly against the deep blue glaze.
These plates are a particularly representative example of the production that contributed to Auguste Jean's renown.
Condition: Good condition. A small crack on the rim of one of the two plates.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, on both plates, in blue enamel: "AJ Jean."
