Large tripod globular vase in translucent smoky brown glass, embellished with hot-applied elements: the tripod base, the neck and the "tears" flowing from it, as well as the wave-like high-relief elements that animate the body. These different elements give the vase a profoundly organic and modern character.
The piece is distinguished by the absence of superimposed colored glass and the complete absence of painted enamel decoration, which Auguste Jean frequently used in his glass production. The ornamental richness here relies exclusively on the free working of the material itself, which gives it a sculptural character.
Several vases of comparable form are known, but they combine hot-working with painted enamel decoration, sometimes enhanced with gilding.
Condition: Good condition. Some damage, losses and chips.
Signature: Not specified.
