Large quadrupedal flattened vase, in translucent blue blown glass, featuring extensive hot-worked detailing. The quadrupedal base, the pinched-stretched neck, and the long "tears" that emerge from it and extend across the belly contribute to the creation of a particularly dynamic form, with an organic and sculptural character.
The belly is adorned with a rich polychrome enameled painted decoration, enhanced with numerous gilded accents. Ribbons, evoking cornucopias suspended by chains from the "tears" and hot-applied elements, feature geometric and floral motifs of both Oriental and Far Eastern inspiration. From these cornucopias seems to escape a luxuriant vegetation composed of flowers and leafy branches, among which several butterflies flutter.
Several vases of comparable form are known today, testifying to the artist's variation of the same model in different colors, decorations, and material treatments.
Condition: Good condition
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base: in enamel "A Jean" and with a hot-applied pellet.
