Small tripod basket, in amber yellow translucent blown glass with metallic reflections, enhanced with gilt highlights. The piece shows significant hot-working, particularly visible in the base, the "tears" flowing from the neck onto the body, as well as in the undulating neck shaped with pincers. A tubular handle, also hot-applied, forms an elegant arched grip.
The body is adorned with a polychrome and gilt enameled decoration of Japoniste inspiration, composed of flowering branches, flowers, and small plant motifs. A rectangular gilt cartouche frames the delicate representation of a bird perched on a branch, directly evoking the aesthetic of Japanese prints. The richness of the decoration, the gilt highlights, and the metallic effects of the glass give the whole a particularly precious and refined character.
Several baskets of comparable form are known today, of varying dimensions. However, they are consistently distinguished by the color of the glass and the composition of their enameled decoration, making each example a unique work.
Condition: Good condition
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base, in red enamel: "A. Jean".
