Quadripod box in glazed earthenware, with a gilded metal mount and a lid. The decoration, hand-painted in blue and white camaieu in the Delft style, unfolds on the different faces of the box and combines gallant scenes, marine landscapes, and floral compositions. The shape and decoration are fully inspired by the Rocaille style.
This box is a testament to Auguste Jean's productions with blue and white decoration in the Delft style. It is also of particular interest due to its late dating: made in Vierzon, it testifies to the artist's ceramic production during the last years of his activity.
Condition: Good condition.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, under the base, in blue enamel: "Jean & Cie / Vierzon".
