Circular plate in enamelled earthenware with a deep blue glaze, adorned with rich polychrome painted decoration inspired by the Neo-Renaissance. In the center, a woman is depicted standing, elegantly dressed in Renaissance fashion, in a simple landscape dominated by a largely clear sky. The figure is enclosed in a cartouche with cut-out contours, standing out against the intense blue background of the glaze. The rim is animated by a profuse decoration of leafy scrolls and polychrome floral motifs in shades of blue, green, and yellow.
This plate is a particularly representative example of the production that contributed to the renown of Auguste Jean.
Condition: Good state of preservation.
Signature: Signed on the reverse, in blue enamel: "AJ Jean".
