The large neo-Renaissance vase in the foreground is also reproduced in \u003cem\u003eThe Art Journal illustrated Catalogue of the International Exhibition 1862\u003c\/em\u003e, while this vase and the small vase in the background on the right appear in the photograph of Auguste Jean taken by \u003cstrong\u003eAdolphe Dallemagne\u003c\/strong\u003e, the only known photographic representation of the artist to date.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plate thus constitutes a valuable testimony to Auguste Jean's production at the beginning of his career.
