Several inkstands by Auguste Jean are known today, but this one stands out for its form.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIts provenance is particularly interesting: it belonged to the \u003cstrong\u003eprincely family of Baden\u003c\/strong\u003e and was notably listed in the inventory of \u003cstrong\u003eKirchberg Castle\u003c\/strong\u003e, in Germany. It was sold by Prince Maximilian of Baden during the auction organized at \u003cstrong\u003eSotheby's in 1995\u003c\/strong\u003e.
